Once again through the stories of women, this room is dedicated to representing ‘us’ through a focus on family organisation, genealogies and marriage customs, the ‘comparatico’ and ‘gjitunivet’ systems, ritual practices linked to the various stages of the life cycle, and traditional costumes in their role as markers of ethnic and social distinction, and as signs of recognition and identification for individuals in relation to rank, age and personal status. The unifying element of the display is the large double bed, an existential symbol upon and around which the individual and progressive events connected to the life cycle unfolded.
We are always available to organise educational visits, hands-on workshops and guided tours for small and large groups of all ages. The important thing is to book well in advance.
